Senior leaders from across the region were brought together one again for the second in CWE‘s Special Topics Series: Senior Leadership Edition, focused on human‑centered leadership. This session shifted the focus from leadership foundations to team dynamics, offering participants practical tools to better understand how teams function, struggle, and succeed.
Understanding the Five Dysfunctions of a Team
Matt Dunlop, founder of Mainstream Corporate Training, led participants through The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, unpacking common challenges such as lack of trust, fear of conflict, and avoidance of accountability. Through guided discussion, leaders examined how these dysfunctions can quietly impact team performance and explored strategies for addressing them in intentional, constructive ways.
Exploring the Six Types of Working Genius
The session also introduced The Six Types of Working Genius, providing leaders with a shared language to recognize how different people contribute to work. By identifying individual strengths and gaps, participants discussed how this framework can help reduce friction, increase engagement, and create more balanced, effective teams.
Visual Storytelling
Live graphic facilitation by Senior Project Manager Laura McCabe supported the session, capturing key ideas and connections as the conversation evolved. The visual summary helped bring clarity to the frameworks and reinforced the collective learning in the room.

Attendees complete an exercise where they reflect on their experiences leading teams.
Looking Ahead
This second session underscored the role of trust, self‑awareness, and complementary strengths in building high‑performing teams. As the human‑centered leadership series continues, Connecting Windsor‑Essex looks forward to supporting leaders as they apply these insights to create healthier, more resilient workplaces across the region.
